ABOUT THE REGION
The Sapphire Coast of NSW, from which we take our name "Sapphire Blue", is approximately 400 km south of Sydney, 600 km north of Melbourne, and 200 km east of Canberra.
It encompasses the fabulous coast towns of Bermagui at its northern edge; Tathra, Tura Beach, Merimbula, Pambula, Pambula Beach, Eden and Wonboyn; with the Victorian Border at its southern edge. Twenty minutes west of Merimbula is the Sapphire Coast's country centre of Bega and the Bega Valley - home of the famous Bega Cheeses, and over a dozen historic and vibrant villages.
80% of the Sapphire Coast is National Parks including 20% dedicated wilderness regions. This region is very much an unspoilt, natural paradise with all the facilities of modern living - airports, schools, hospitals, vibrant communities - all this without the smothering density and invasive commercialisation of other areas. It is a place of dolphins, sea eagles, and whales; of spectacular coastal escarpment and lush farming country; of wilderness parks and endless golden beaches; of waterfalls and mountain streams, lagoons, lakes and fish filled estuaries; of country markets, festivals and galleries; of restaurants, cafes, wines, and cheeses; and best of all - fragrant fresh air.
